What is Lumi Casting?
Lumi Casting was created by producers to facilitate an exceptional experience for applicants and casting teams. Applicants are engaged from their first touch and producers gain better insight to find the right people faster.
For detailed information on setting up Casting (excluding payments) please see the Casting Help Guide.
This guide only deals with the Payments section of the application.
Casting Payments
Casting Payments is a built-in fee recovery option that enables cost recovery or even revenue generating applications. Adding a small fee to apply also helps to weed out non-serious applicants.
There are three fee models:
- One-time fee
- Monthly/yearly subscription fee
- Combination of both: an initial application fee, followed by a monthly or yearly subscription fee
Set up One-Time Payments
Once you have created and configured your application, as detailed in the Casting Help Guide, you can set up a one-time fee.
Open the relevant application and scroll down to the Payments section. Click the downward arrow to expand it.
Toggle the "Enabled" button to blue to switch payments on.
Page Title: You can leave it as the default "Submit Application" or edit it here.
Page Text: Enter your desired text for the submit payment page. For example, "There is a one-time fee of $5 to cover the processing of your application".
One time Application Fee: Defaults to $2.00 which is the minimum fee. You can edit the amount here. You must enter the amount in cents (ie $5.00 is entered as 500).
Click "Save" in the top-right.
Example of how the Payment page will look to your applicants:
Once they enter their payment details and click the Submit button they will be taken to the Casting "Thank you" page.
By default, the "Thank you page" message is "Thank you. This application has been submitted", but you can add your own message, and provide a link if there's an action you would like them to take next.
See the "Thank you page" section in the Casting Help Guide for more details.
Set up Subscription Payments
Once you have created and configured your application, as detailed in the Casting Help Guide, you can set up a recurring subscription fee.
For example, "For just $5 per month you will gain access to...".
Recurring Payments toggle: Switch to blue (on) which will expand the following fields.
Currently, once a subscription payment has been set up in casting configuration you cannot edit it. This is because there are implications for existing subscribers.
Name: Defaults to the application name and displays just above the subscription fee. See screenshot below.
Description: Optional. If you enter a description it will display just above the Subscribe button. See screenshot below.
Price: Defaults to $5.00 which is the recommended minimum. You can edit the amount here. You must enter the amount in cents (ie $5.00 is entered as 500).
Interval: Select between Monthly or Yearly.
One time Application Fee: If you want to remove the one-time fee, enter "0" (zero). You cannot leave the field blank or the application will not save. You can elect to have both a one-time fee and a subscription fee.
Note, if you enter "0" as the one-time payment before switching on recurring payments you will see the warning message "Minimum fee of $2.00 is required". Switching on recurring payments will resolve this.
Click "Save" in the top-right.
Example of how the subscription payment will look to your applicants:
When they click "Subscribe" the following page will display.
Once they have entered their payment information and clicked "Subscribe" again, they will be taken to the "Thank you" page.
By default, the "Thank you page" message is "Thank you. This application has been submitted", but you can add your own message, and provide a link if there's an action you would like them to take next.
See the "Thank you page" section in the Casting Help Guide for more details.
Set up Combined Payments
You can have a subscription payment with a one-time initial fee, by combining both steps above.
Remember to click "Save" in the top-right after entering your Payment information.
Which Currencies are Supported?
Lumi supports payments in AUD, USD and GBP (Great British Pound).
The currency of your application is determined by the Locale settings, which comes from your Project Settings, but can be edited in application configuration.
To ensure your Locale settings are correct, expand the Locale section of your application by clicking the downward arrow.
Check that Timezone, Date Format and Currency fields are correct.
Your application can have a different Locale to your Project if required.
To change your application's Locale, click the downward arrow next to the current Locale value.
Select the desired Locale from the dropdown menu.
Timezone, Date Format and Currency fields will automatically populate. You can change the Timezone if needed.
Click "Save" in the top right.
Upcoming Payment Features
We are in the process of bringing additional features and flexibility to Lumi Payments.
On the roadmap are tiered subscriptions, allowing you to easily manage basic and premium plans. There will also be the ability to create promotional codes.
Some Inbox updates are planned, such as showing subscription status and tier, to better support the management of casting payments.
